Adventures and Trekking - CoorgAdventure at CoorgLake Coorg is a trekking paradise, so get those boots on and get moving. Up and down hills, through coffee and pepper plantations, alongside the graceful. Cauvery and myriad little streams, whether its leisurely rambles or a purposeful trek, it's most satisfying and great fun.Fishing is another popular indulgence, as the rivers are well stocked with Mahseer in the Cauvery River. Treks through the Dubare forests with a guide, elephant safaris, boating in the lake, swimming, fishing, table tennis, carroms or chess indoors, a spot of golf on the nine hole course are the activities here. One can use Alath Clad bungalow, a near by sprawling estate, as their base while they take off on days trips around Coorg. For those of the latter persuasion, treks through the Alath clad estate, bird watching to have a colourful cycling, angling and picnicking. Essential FactsThe Kodagu region is full of trekking trails. The best season to trek is from October to the beginning of February. Simply follow the mountain trails dotted with little shrines some beside waterfalls, and others on the banks of rivers. The other welltrodden trekking trails in Kodagu are in the Brahmagiri ranges of South Kodagu , where a forest trail leads from Iruppu Falls to the Brahmagiri peak. Another interesting trail leads to Pushpagiri (1712m,) Kodagu's second highest peak, which can be climbed via the village of Heggademane to the north of Madikeri.TrekkingCoorg has many verdant trekking routes in the midst of forests and hills, and it's best to go in the months from October to February. Some of the known trails are in the hills of Brahmagiri, where you could trek your way to the Irrupa Falls. You could also consider trekking to Pushpagiri, the second highest peak of Kodagu and Tadiandamol (the highest peak).GolfAvid golfers can tee off at the 9hole course of Virajpet.AnglingValanoor is the backwater of the river Cauvery. It draws fishing lovers from all over India. You can try and catch the famous mahaseer and the best season is from October to May.White Water RaftingThere are few good camps around Coorg that offer rafting down the Cauvery river. For some fast paced action, visit the Upper Barapole River to the south of Coorg in Brahmagiri. The best time for rafting is from midJune to midSeptember.
